Northampton County American Legion Baseball League inducts three more into Hall of Fame

Mike Guro, Karl "Chip" Rentzheimer and Andy Pitsilos were the latest inductees to the Northampton County American Legion Baseball League's Hall of Fame at the organization's annual clambake Friday night at The Meadows in Lower Saucon Township.

Guro starred for Bath from 1980 82 and also played for several Derek Wolfe Authentic Jersey years in the Blue Mountain League as an outfielder.

Rentzheimer played for Hellertown over the same period as an outfielder, pitcher and third baseman. He later became head coach of Pleasant Valley High School from 2003 12.

Andy Pitsilos played for Freemansburg and led NorCo in hits all three years he played for the team. He played over 20 years in the BML and has served as Liberty High's head baseball coach for the past 10 years.

Jim Sawyer, a pitcher/third baseman/first baseman for league champion Bath, earned the Ed Ronca award as the league's most valuable player. Sawyer will be entering his sophomore year at the University of Scranton.

Easton's Richy Llagas (6 0, 2.28 ERA) was Montee Ball Authentic Jersey selected for the "Gouge" Andrews award as the league's top pitcher.

Mike Garzillo of Nazareth won the Henry "Hunky" Trumbauer award as the league's leading hitter with a .574 average. Garzillo, who's headed to Lehigh, also led the league in home runs, RBIs, runs scored and slugging percentage while tying for the league lead in triples. He was also awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Pennsylvania American Legion.

Kevin Rold of Freemansburg captured the NorCo scholarship award. A Freedom graduate, Rold was also presented with a $1,000 scholarship award. He will attend Penn Derek Wolfe Kids Jersey State where he'll major in mechanical engineering.

Derek Charlie of Nazareth earned the Bill Rogers catching award. Greg Hess was recipient of the Gene Hartzell umpiring award.

Jon Konawalik, league vice president, won the Charles "Chic" Kennedy appreciation award. Konawalik formerly served as manager of The Birches, a program he initiated.

Cindy Tracey, wife of treasurer and long time league official John Tracey, won the Pete Kraft unsung hero award.

Bath was also recognized for winning the NorCO League title and Montee Ball Youth Jersey for a runner up finish in the Region 2 tournament. Also recognized were division champs East Stroudsburg (North), Roseto (East) and Freemansburg (South).
