Mom's Mac and Cheese

My parents have 5 kids. So growing up, this was an old standby favorite. Now, its requested every Thanksgiving.

Prep time: Under 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 45 Minutes
Course: Main Dishes

Ingredients:
  • 3T Butter
  • 3T Flour
  • 2 Cups of Milk
  • 2C of Shredded/Cubed cheddar Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup of diced onions
  • Salt/Pepper to taste
  • Paprika and Sliced Tomato to garnish (Optional)

Instructions:

Boil Water, and start pasta while making sauce

Melt butter in a saucepan, combine flour to make a rue.

Gradually add milk, and combine thoroughly (I use a whisk), heat to thicken (low bubbles)

Add cheese, and whisk till all cheese is melted

Add onions and salt and pepper to taste

Combine sauce with pasta and stir

Pour into a casserole pan, garnish with paprika and tomato or whatever you’d like

Heat at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
