Cinnamon Coffecake
Rating : Not Rated

This is a family Christmas tradition. I get up early Christmas morning to make it and we eat it as we open gifts. One daughter's friend stayed overnight at our house the night before she got married. I thought she should have something special for breakfast on her wedding morning so I made this coffee cake even though it was April. When each of my daughers came downstairs that morning they said, "Is it Christmas?"

Sausage Balls
Rating : Not Rated

Another recipe from long ago. I can hardly make these fast enough to keep people happy. When I take them to my husband's family at Christmas they barely say "hi" before asking if I brought the Sausage Balls. These are made in batches like cookies. At 12-15 minutes a batch, who knows how long it takes! Do two or more baking sheets at once to reduce active time.

Spinach Squares
Rating : Not Rated

My mother used to make these at holiday time. I think I am the only one in my family who still makes them, but my husband's family doesn't think Christmas is complete unless I bring these and Sausage Balls--also an old family recipe. Check that one out too! (The cooking time shows 35 minutes, but they are meant to sit for 45 minutes after that before cutting.)

Alison's Corn Pudding
Rating : Not Rated

Really it's a corn casserole. Easy and yummy. Alison made this recipe, traditional in her family, for our Thanksgiving dinner and it has become a new family tradition for us. It is great. Thanks, Alison!

Strawberry Pizza
Rating : Not Rated

People always ask for the recipe for this one. This one really doesn't fit into the "Preparation Time" and "Cooking Time" categories very well. Not much real preparation time, but crust cools, filling cools and later the finished pizza chills for 2 hours. Plan ahead. Another recipe from the Houston Chronicle.

This is from a great cookbook, The Simpler the Better, by Leslie Revsin. I have liked almost everything in it. This is a favorite. Good with pasta, rice or pan-fried polenta.

Mediterranean Chicken
Rating : Not Rated

Quick and easy. I like one-dish meals and this is good left over too. It is adapted slightly from a recipe in the Houston Chronicle. Good for family or casual company.
