This recipe for toffee bars is fast and easy, and they taste so good! My friends always ask me to make these whenever they have parties.

Yield: 12
Prep time: Under 15 Minutes
Cook Time: Under 15 Minutes
Course: Desserts

  • One package original Saltine crackers (may substitute w/Wheat Thins)
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • Chocolate chips
  • Chopped nuts (optional)
  • Medium baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil

Preheat oven to 350.

Line a baking sheet with foil.

Line bottom of covered baking sheet with Saltines.  (I prefer original Saltines to unsalted for a good salty/sweet dessert)

Mix together brown sugar and butter/margarine in a saucepan and let it come to a rolling boil for one minute.  It will form a thin sauce.

Pour sauce over the crackers and bake in the oven for 5 minutes.  (It is ok to have leftover sauce)

Take out of oven and pour chocolate chips over the hot crackers.  Once chocolate chips start to melt, spread melted chocolate evenly over the entire cracker area with spoon.

Sprinkle with chopped nuts.

Place the toffee bars still on the cookie sheet in the freezer for about 30 minutes to an hour.

Once cooled, peel Toffee bars from the foil and break into squares. (The cooler the toffee bars, the easier the foil is to remove)

Serve and enjoy!!
