Louis Murphy takes the blame for Eli Manning's interception
When Louis Murphy explained Eli Manning's lone interception in Sunday's game, he sounded a lot like another Giants wide receiver who had a similar problem a few weeks back.
In a week four loss to Chicago, Manning threw a pick six on a pass to Rueben Randle where it appeared both were reading different playbooks. As it turned out, Randle thought he was conveying a different route with his body language. Manning thought he was stopping short, and Randle thought he was extending the route.
"I had hard inside leverage and I just wanted to sell a hitch, make the cornerback jump it and then go inside," Murphy said. "We just weren't on the same page.
"The way I ran it, he was so far Authentic Louis Nix Jersey inside and I had to go inside, so I kind of ran and stopped to make him think I was stopping to go inside."
Which made Manning think Murphy was."stopping. So we were on two different pages. Me trying to make a play and E trying to make a play. The play was a good call. The way he read my body language he thought I was stopping. And I shouldn't have stopped. It was just me trying to make a Authentic C.J. Fiedorowicz Jersey play."
After the Chicago interception, Randle talked about how difficult it is to convey something with body language in the middle of the game. With Murphy, his job was made 10 times harder considering he's had less Louis Nix M Jersey than 20 offensive snaps on the season.
Manning isn't used to his quirks or tendencies.
"Exactly, man. It's just me not being out there with Eli a lot," Murphy said. "I probably could have told him, 'Hey E, I'm going to take a little time to make it work,' but not really being out there, not knowing how the (Packers) are playing, and he's sitting three yards inside of him and I have to go inside of him, I just don't want to go in because if I go in, he'll pick it. So I was trying to make a play."
Murphy was reamed out by Manning and C.J. Fiedorowicz Texans Jersey Kevin Gilbride on the sideline after the play. According to one side, there was no option on the route whatsoever, which could have been the source of the problem.
"He should have come inside anyway," Coughlin said. That was the nature, there was no option involved. He made a mistake. Eli should not be charged with that, but nevertheless that the way it goes. We have to do a better job coaching
