I been following this offseason a lot closer than I followed any of the previous ones, and there have been a few teams that have caught my eye, the Buffalo Bills are one of them. The Bills made headlines last offseason after their splashy signing of Mario Williams. This season is was the draft where the Bills made their splash by making EJ Manuel the only QB taken in the first round.
While I don know that he was worth the first round pick, I was a big proponent of the Florida State QB as the most underrated passer in the draft; especially early in the process when his name got lost under the hype surrounding Geno Smith and Matt Barkley and Ryan Nassib. Manuel has the size and arm strength to be a superstar. That said, I really hope he isn forced to be the week 1 starter. The way the 49ers brought along Colin Kaepernick should serve as the model here. Give him a year holding the clipboard and learning how to play in the NFL. Ideally you like a stronger mentor(s) than Kevin Kolb and Tavaris Jackson, but hey a poor man Colin Kaepernick is a heck of a lot better than Ryan Fitzpatrick.
My biggest concern with the Bills offensive is the offensive line. They still haven quite addressed the hole left at guard by Andy Levitre departure and they could still use another tackle to pair with Cordy Glenn, but as far as the skill positions are concerned I think the Bills have set themselves up nicely. I really looking forward to seeing this passing attack as Buffalo managed to grab 3 of my favorite prospects from this wide receiver class. I think Robert Woods is a great hands guy to compliment Stevie Johnson and Marquise Goodwin may need some coaching, but he already a great speed guy. Then they added Da Rogers shortly after the draft who, if he keeps his nose clean and stays out of trouble, will also be a key contributor. I not sure what Buffalo current cap situation is, but if they have the space, I still think they should look into the addition of LT Brandon Albert via trade, that the Chiefs have Eric Fisher. Or if the team comfortable with Cordy Glenn playing LT, adding free agent RT Eric Winston could be a cheaper option, reuniting him with former Texans teammate Mario Williams and keeping him off the rival Dolphins roster. Solidifying that line could make this offense very scary, very quickly.
On defense things also seem to be trending upwards. Kiko Alonso adds a big bodied presence to the middle of the field and I like the signing of Manny Lawson to play outside linebacker. I also think the team will benefit from the switch to a hybrid scheme. I secondary wasn better addressed with such a deep class at cornerback, and really the whole back half of the draft leaves something to be desired, at least on paper, but the two safeties they drafted seem to have some fan support from their college careers and Dustin Hopkins could be this year Blair Walsh or Greg Zuerlein. Regardless, this is a Bills team that got a lot of promise, and while they probably still a year or two from challenging for the division title, if they get the line sorted, and some rookie and sophomore players come along quicker than expected, this is a team that could surprise some people.
Chiefs select G Chance Warmack:
Well, turns out the Chiefs were higher on Albert than I gave them credit for. He been franchised for 2013 and they still trying to hammer out a long term deal with him, which puts Joeckel and Fisher out of the running. Warmack is considered one of the best prospects in this draft (regardless of position) and the Chiefs could use the upgrade on the inside.
Jaguars select CB Dee Milliner:
I know, I shout about how the Jag need a LT and then as soon as people start to agree I change my mind. This pick could still go to the line, but Eugene Monroe held his own at LT last year and the Jags have cleaned out the secondary since my first posting. Milliner provides a fit for Gus Bradley scheme and gives them a solid building block for the defense regardless of the front.
Raiders select DL Shariff Floyd http://www.footballtitansshop.com/9_steve_mcnair_jersey_authentic_black_limited_cheap.html
I stand by the Raiders taking Floyd, though if Milliner is www.footballtitansshop.com available I think he a consideration. If Floyd goes to the Chiefs as some suspect this pick likely goes to Dion Jordan or Jarvis Jones.
This might make too much sense and with King Dunlap signing with San Diego, athletic Tackle Eric Fisher is a possibility here, but I still like Jordan skill set and knowledge of Kelly defense to put him over the top.
I don think Joeckel is the first choicenecessarily, but with Jeff Backus retired, Joeckel pairs well with last years top pick Riley Reiff keeping big money QB Matt Stafford safe.
The Browns don want Brandon Weeden, and while he likely stay with the team through 2013, I don expect him to make it to a third year with the Browns. Smith has the arm to excel in Norv Turner offense and the type of speed that Head Coach Rob Chudinski will covet. I also expect the Browns to make a run at recently released WR Brandon Lloyd.
Cardinals Warren Moon Black Jersey select LT Eric Fisher
The Cardinals need to upgrade the offensive line, and they take the best tackle here whether it Fisher, Joeckel or Johnson. I don buy Geno Smith here. Hoyer and Stanton are both backups who never got a fair shake as starters, so maybe they surprise us, more likely though, I don think the Cards will see enoughseparationbetween Smith and the next few guys and will take their chance in the second or third round.
Bills select G Johnathan Cooper:
Andy Levitre leaves a hole in the Bills line, and I think they make plugging it a top priority here. Cooper can come in and footballtitansshop.com/1_warren_moon_jersey_authentic_black_limited_cheap.html play at a high level immediately which will allow the Bills to continue to get maximum production out of Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller.
The Jets have a lot of needs on defense and if they go that way I like Kenny Vacarro as a versatile safety who can help in run and pass (as well as soften the blow of a Revis departure.) But first I think the Jets need to upgrade their offensive weaponry. Woods may not be the fastest WR on the board, but he has good natural hands and will excel at running theintermediate routesnecessaryin new OC Marty Morningweg West Coast offense. The same can be said of last year 2nd round pick Stephen Hill or even of the Jets current number 1receiverSantonio Holmes. If the Jets expect Sanchez to improve, they need to give him someone to throw to. Cordarelle Patterson (who went at 6 in my last draft) isn vas polished running routes, and trends too similar to Hill skill set. Similarly, Tavon Austin (who went at 8 in my last draft) has a skill set similar to Jeremy Kerley.
If the Jets do pass on Vaccoro, he won fall far proving a significant upgrade to the Titans secondary which sorely missed CB Cortland Steve McNair Authentic Jersey Finnegan (who followed Jeff Fisher to the Rams) last year.
The Alex Smith trade has really boosted the buzz surrounding the Chiefs and more specifically what they may do with the number 1 overall pick. As it stands now Branden Albert is in talks with the team and seems interested in staying (so long as he stays at LT) assuming a deal gets done, Luke Joeckel is out of the equation with the top pick. The Chiefs other top free agent is Dwayne Bowe, who still has one more day to be slapped with the franchise tag for the second year in a row. Bowe wasn pleased to get the tag last year and I doubt he will be this year, but as far as I know, talks on a long term deal aren going anywhere. Seems like Bowe wants out and if KC had another option they let him walk, or at least test free agency.
This would leave WR as a pretty big weakness for the Chiefs, but Andy Reid put together some of his best seasons in Philly with questionable talent atreceiver(remember Hank Baskett?) Still, they need someone to line up opposite Jon Baldwin and Cordarelle Patterson could make sense. He an explosive playmaker, who can contribute in the return game. It not the ideal situation for KC, but it could free up cap space and allow the Chiefs to add one of the free agent cornerbacks (which could eventually include current Eagle Nnamdi Asomougha) to pair with Brandon Flowers, and maybe add a few of Alex Smith old teammates with WR Ted Ginn and DE/DT RickyJean Francios who are both set to become free agents and may not be retained by San Francisco.
Ideally, the Chiefs would like to trade the pick if they resign Albert, hopefully shop it to a team that needy along the OLine, possible the Cardinals (7) or Dallas (18) who could both use their draft picks but might be willing to surrender a midrounder to move up and secure their line with the best prospect available rather tahn waiting to see who falls to them.http://www.mythaiconnection.com/member/blog_post_view.php?postId=1559http://watime.ru/duncan34/blog/32810/http://boenx.com/blogs/post/543312
