This was the first time i deep fried anything! Of course that makes it fun and ok for a party, but maybe not so good for most days. For next time: I might try brushing it w/ oil and sticking it under the broiler or baking. Also, I am going to soak the red onions in lemon juice or vinegar for a while. I think this will bring out the sweetness, and cut the strong "onioniness" and it will all blend a bit nicer.
